After hitting your every day targets, you can move on to playing some music and trying to incorporate whatever improvements you might have made into your songs/etudes/excerpts/whatever. Your session needs to be about the improvements YOU want to make, but in general it should be well rounded and hit all areas of technical ability. Virtual lessons are totally reasonable if the teacher has a good setup and good pedagogy. My students and I do well with virtual lessons. ![]() Even if it’s just a few weeks to get some direction, you’ll have the most success with a teacher. Two books I recommend: “Daily Fundamentals” by Michael Sachs and “100 Progressive Lessons for the Beginner or Comeback Player” by David Hickman. People like to suggest the Arban’s or Clarke or etude books, but those books are meant to be studied thoroughly with a teacher first. ![]() The Sachs and Hickman will be much more manageable.
